We are thrilled to offer a summer position again this year.
Funded by the Canada Summer Jobs program, and topped up by SCGC to meet our commitment as a living wage employer, our Communications Specialist position is open to students who are:
- between 15 and 30 years old;
- have a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN);
- and are a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident of Canada, or a person who has been granted refugee status in Canada.
In this position, you will work with the Executive Director and Communications Director to:
- update social media channels;
- create social media content where necessary;
- research policy related to nature preservation, climate action, water protection and smart land use;
- summarize local environmental and policy opportunities from youth perspective;
- outreach with other youth organizations about climate change, local environment and policy opportunities;
- virtually attend board meetings and work meetings as required;
- coordinate with leadership team on various educational communication initiatives and deadlines;
- report progress on activities in a timely manner to leadership team;
- update shared calendars to reflect meeting schedules and appointments;
- collaborate with board members and other staff via cloud based software on projects and campaigns.

- Reading and/or Writing

For example, reading is used to locate information on forms and drawings, and to read items such as emails, reports, news articles, blog posts and instructions. Writing is used to fill out forms and applications, and write emails, reports and social media posts.
